Biographical and Professional Information

Even though Kat wasn’t born there, she is a native of the Rocky Mountains and she's always considered Wyoming her home. Moving there with her family when she was only six months old, leaving it at eight; then back again for a total of over twenty-three years, Wyoming is in her blood and heart.

While living in Casper, she wrote a monthly op/ed column for the Casper STAR TRIBUNE which was also carried in the nationally distributed Liberal Opinion WEEK. One of those columns, "Teach Children Critical Thinking" was included in Greenhaven Press’ textbook anthology "Violence in the Media: Current Controversies." Some of her feature articles were also published in the Cheyenne TRIBUNE-EAGLE, the Gillette NEWS-RECORD, as well as the short-lived WYOMING MAGAZINE and various other publications under the byline "Katey LaFrance." She has also been a featured writer/performer for Artcore’s “Music & Poetry” program in Casper.

She continues to write about Wyoming, with two manuscripts nearing publication-readiness and a new novel, "Prairie Child" and children's book, "Sleepy-Sneezy, the Snake" which will be published in the first part of 2008.
