Biographical and Professional Information

Born in Sacramento, California, in 1918, John Alfred "Ace" Bonar was the son of a blacksmith but shared his maternal grandfather's passion for writing. While working at the Texaco Refinery, he attended night writing classes taught by Peggy Simson Curry at Casper College. The last of his three books, A Soldier Speaks, published in 2006, stemmed from his World War II service with the 86th Combat Division in Europe. He was also interested in Wyoming history and wrote two books in that genre. His articles were published in a number of magazines and were featured in a KTWO-TV historical special series. He and his wife, Gladys, lived in Glenrock, where they raised their three children. (Source: Wyoming Treasures by Penny A. Zeller)
