Biographical and Professional Information
Author of Letters of a Woman Homesteader (1914) and Letters on an Elk Hunt (1915), Elinore Pruitt Stewart is America's most famous woman homesteader. Born in Indian Territory, she journeyed to Burntfork, Wyoming, where she married her employer,Clyde Stewart. She filed on her own land that same year and recorded in letters her life on the family's small ranch.
