Biographical and Professional Information
Edna Furness was born in Colorado on January 26, 1906. She became a high school teacher in Wyoming, from 1933 to 1939. She then held several college-level teaching positions: Casper Junior College, Casper, Wyo., instructor in English and modern languages, 1945-47; University of Wyoming, Laramie, assistant professor, 1947-52, associate professor, 1952-55, professor of English and foreign languages, 1955-61. She was awarded a research grant by the University of Wyoming in 1957, and was a Coe fellow in American studies in 1959. After retirement she returned to Colorado, and died in Denver on December 4, 2002.
